Teen remains in critical condition after shooting in Des Moines

July 1, 2013 By Matt Kelley

One teenager was critically wounded, while another is wanted following a weekend shooting in Des Moines. The shooting happened early Saturday morning in a neighborhood near Drake University.

Officers were called to the scene and found 16-year-old Tony Mathews lying in a yard, suffering from a gunshot wound. Mathews remains in the hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Police said Monday that they’re looking for another teen they describe as a material witness. Fifteen-year-old Antwan Campbell is wanted for questioning in the case.
