Des Moines officer, suspect injured during confrontation

August 11, 2014 By Matt Kelley

Des Moines police officers shot a fleeing suspect early this morning in an incident that left an officer and the suspect injured. Police were questioning a man in the parking lot of the Cozy Rest Motel. He was inside a car that was reported stolen in Minnesota.

The man tried to drive off and pinned one of the officers against a squad car. She and the other officer opened fire, hitting the man. He sped away and was picked up by other officers, following a brief chase. Both the suspect and the officer were hospitalized and listed in stable condition.
