Crawford and Shelby counties added to presidential disaster list

August 20, 2014 By Dar Danielson

Two more counties are now on the presidential disaster declaration list. The Governor’s office announced that Crawford and Shelby counties in western Iowa have been added to the list for severe weather that hit in June and July. There were already 22 other counties included in that list.

The federal declaration allows the 24 counties to receive federal funding for emergency work, debris removal, and to repair or replace damaged facilities.

The other counties previously included in the declaration are: Audubon, Black Hawk, Butler, Cedar, Des Moines, Grundy, Hamilton, Hardin, Ida, Iowa, Jackson, Jasper, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Linn, Mahaska, Muscatine, Poweshiek, Tama, and Washington counties.
