Fayette County investigating after 4-year-old boy shoots himself

Sheriff-patrolA candlelight vigil was held last night in the northeast Iowa town of Elgin to remember a 4-year-old who died over the weekend.

Authorities say they believe Jayden Phillips accidentally shot himself around 2:30 Friday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the incident.
