A southeast Iowa man who was charged in a shooting last week is now accused of first-degree murder after the victim died.
The Ottumwa Police Department says a verbal argument over the phone between 19-year-olds Donovan Wilson and Cameron Downen turned into a physical encounter after the two agreed to meet up and fight at a trailer park.
When Downen arrived by car, court records say Wilson began striking him with a gun through an open window and shot Downen in the head.
Wilson was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and attempted murder, which was upgraded to first-degree murder after Downen died two days later.
Wilson is currently being held without bond in the Wapello County Jail.
