A speaker at the National Forum for Agriculture in Ames says farmers can survive global climate change — but he says they’ll have to learn to adapt. Michael McCracken is with the U.S. Global Change Research Program in Washington. He says it’s apparent that global warming is going to continue. McCracken says the warming will prevent cold spells that kill off germs, make it easier for weeds to grow and impact our water supply. He says it may be easy to overlook the changes because they occur so gradually. McCracken says farmers will need to be more savvy to beat theproblems caused by the global warming.
