Young eastern Iowans will be making an out-of-this-world phone call this afternoon.

Some Davenport students who’ve been studying outer space have a far out assignment today: Speak live with NASA astronauts Kevin Ford and Tom Marshburn, who are aboard the International Space Station.

It’s a call many will hear. The air-to-ground conversation will take place at a Davenport museum and be carried live on NASA Television and the agency’s website.

Students will question the astronauts about life, work and research aboard the orbiting laboratory. It’s part of NASA’s Teaching From Space education program.
