Y2K watch continues today

January 3, 2000 By admin

Tens of thousands of Iowans switch their work computers back on today and most of them aren’t finding any surprises caused by the Y-2-K bug. State leaders have re-opened the emergency operations center at the National Guard Armory in Johnston to continue checking for any troubles statewide.Ellen Gordon, chief of Iowa’s Emergency Management Division, says the New Year’s weekend came and went without any major hitches. She says the money spent preparing for any potential problems was a wise investment and she’d do nothing differently. While Gordon says Iowa appears to be a-okay from Y-2-K, a technology consulting firm predicted ten percent of date change-glitch failures will appear during the first two weeks of this month.
