Randalia may lose Post Office

October 3, 2007 By admin

A Fayette County town may lose their post office as no one’s stepped up to run it. A community meeting will be held in Randalia this evening on the planned closing of the Randalia Post Office. The officer in charge of the Randalia Post Office, Patricia Beamon, indicated she plans to retire.

The regional office in Cedar Rapids claimed they did not receive any applications from qualified individuals to run the office and announced it would close this Friday October 5th. The Post Office is required to hold a public hearing to let residents know of the change. Instead of a post office, Randalia will have a post office box system in the city. The meeting will be held tonight at the Randalia Methodist Church.
